Our roots go back to 1922 in Weed, California. It is there where Paul Brunello arrived from Teviso, Italy and established a bakery. In 1956, the Brunello family left Weed and moved to the San Francisco Bay Area. Later that same year, Paul Brunello opened El Real Bakery in Palo Alto, which offered specialty cakes, Danish pastries, and donuts.
In 1981, the Brunello Family went on to develop their latest and current bakery/cafe concept, Le Boulanger (pronounced luh Boo-Lawn-zhay). Wth the creation of our gold medal award winning Sourdough bread, we became the Bay Area's premier bakery.
Currently, we have bakery/cafes throughout the peninsula and south bay of the San Francisco Bay area. In addition to our retail business, Le Boulanger has wholesale and catering divisions.
